A Letter to Our Community
At SWACH, we know that real change begins when community members are heard. It’s one of the most powerful tools we use to address the barriers our communities face.
In 2024, SWACH’s work was grounded in a simple truth: the people closest to the issues are also the closest to the solutions. Across Southwest Washington, we saw the power that comes from community-led decisions, priority setting, and action. We found this in every aspect of our work – from the new programs we designed, and the advocacy work we supported, to the funding priorities and strategic initiatives we built. In each step, we were fortunate to have community members and experts to look to.

“[Our] work was grounded in a simple truth: the people closest to the issues are also the closest to the solutions.”
For us, this past year was centered on building trust in community to gather these stories, experiences and needs. As we embark on meaningful work in 2025, those stories will shape our actions. This process lets us understand what is happening in our communities, and work with folks across the region to build the change our communities need.
When this work comes together, we are able to collaborate as a region, building innovative solutions to major challenges. It allows us to center equity in our efforts to connect everyone to the resources and care they need.
To everyone who participated in this work in any way – whether you joined a committee or board, completed a survey about community needs, joined us for trainings, or simply told us what you were experiencing, I want to thank you. Your courage, commitment, and support of your community is building meaningful change in Clark, Klickitat and Skamania counties.
With appreciation,
