A Statement Regarding CHAPS

For several years, Southwest Washington Accountable Community of Health (SWACH) was honored to provide funding and project management support for CHAPS. The work done during this partnership has had a tremendous impact in our community, particularly for our community-based workforce.

CHAPS led countless initiatives to support Community Health Workers, Peers, and similar positions across Southwest Washington. From launching the Community-Based Workforce Expo and building relationships with state entities like the Department of Health, to community and skill building for the workforce, CHAPS has had a lasting impact on this work.

As of 2025, SWACH’s role in the group has come to an end – meaning we will not be a fiscal sponsor of the group, nor providing project management support, as the network is out of our purview.

Many of the values and priorities of our partnership are carried on through our programmatic work. We will continue to prioritize workforce development for our community-based workforce, and develop and lead spaces that center the expertise and skills of Community Health Workers, Peers, and similar roles. That dedication is currently reflected in our CHW cohorts, policy advocacy work, and the C3 coalition that we support.

CHAPS has long demonstrated the power of centering community voice. We are grateful to have been a part of their work.
