Continuing Our Commitment to Equity

As an organization, we are committed to developing equitable practices in our work. Externally, this is found in each of our programs. Internally, we are launching a new committee designed to center equity for staff members.

Launched earlier this year, the Equity in Action Committee aims to give a voice to SWACH staff members through initiatives like:

  • Comprehensive policy, procedural, cultural, and structural reviews

  • Communicating our equity efforts to SWACH staff and external stakeholders to maintain accountability and transparency

  • Providing recommendations on changes and decisions to leadership

  • Creating space for staff to learn and develop their skills related to equity

The new committee is the second iteration of an equity-focused work group within our organization. The Equity in Action Committee builds on the foundation laid by the JEDI Committe (Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion). As a committee, our hope is to assess staff culture, organizational structure, governance, and processes in order to recommend necessary changes to become a model of an equitable organization.
