SWACH Statement on Reproductive Health

On June 24, 2022, the United States Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, a ruling that had protected reproductive rights, including the right to an abortion, for more than 50 years.

At Southwest Washington Accountable Community of Health, our mission focuses on “improving whole-person wellness for all”. We strongly believe that each community member should have equitable access to healthcare, unique to their own situation. That includes the right to a safe and legal abortion especially so during circumstances when this procedure is lifesaving healthcare.

This ban will have a negative effect on the social determinants of health, which are the barriers or circumstances that influence someone’s overall wellness. This ban adds obstacles for individuals seeking the proper care they need. People of color, along with other systematically excluded populations experience a disproportionate risk, if forced to carry high-risk pregnancies to term.

SWACH stands with our partners in advocating for reproductive health access. Below is more information on how you can take action to advocate for health equity for everyone in Southwest Washington.
