Use Your Voice to Shape the Future of Medicaid Transformation

Washington State's Medicaid Transformation Project (MTP) is an innovative approach to reimagine the systems and infrastructure that provide meaningful care to community members across Southwest Washington. SWACH relies on the Medicaid Transformation Project waiver to provide crucial funding that allows us to do transformative work like funding partners across our region for care coordination, opioid use resources, chronic pain self-management, bi-direction integration, and more.

Washington State is currently in the last year of the current MTP waiver, which ends December 31, 2022. The state's Health Care Authority (HCA) is submitting a waiver renewal application, which would fund this project for five additional years.

As part of the application, the HCA is looking for public feedback. They are hosting a public comment period from May 12 - to June 13, 2022. During this time, individuals are welcome to provide suggestions and insight on the application.

The application focuses on three primary goals:

  • Expanding coverage and access to care, ensuring people can get the care they need
  • Advancing whole-person primary, preventive, and home- and community-based care
  • Accelerating care delivery and payment innovation focused on health-related social needs

The HCA has provided a breakdown of the new application on their website.

What feedback should I provide?

Any feedback you have is welcome. That said, some examples of feedback include:

  • When you look at this renewal package, is there anything you’re excited about?
  • Is there anything that concerns you?
  • Is there anything you want to make sure we know?
  • What is working well now that should be preserved?
  • Any other feedback?

How Can I Provide Feedback?

There are multiple ways to participate in the public comment period. Once the public comment period is open, comments can be provided via:

  • HCA Survey
  • Webinars
  • Mailing and emailing the HCA directly
  • Or by sharing information directly with a local Accountable Community of Health (like SWACH)

More information will be available during the public comment period on the HCA website. We are accepting comments directly at any time between now and the end of the comment period. Contact our Communications Manager, Ryan Carrillo, at communications@southwestach.org. More information is also available on our website.

By participating in this public comment period, you are helping us elevate community voice. Your voice and experiences matter in this process. Thank you for helping us address our specific community needs in this process.
